Thanks SO much for your super kind comment, David – it means a lot coming from somebody who is a great writer himself! This cake was seriously a revelation: my aunt has been making a version of it for quite some time, but only the steamed sponge cake portion. It was both nerve-racking and exhilarating to tweak it the way I did; I’m just glad that it turned out all right! But hey, do enjoy that mandatory staycation, okay? 🙂
