I’m really glad I’m not the only one with this experience! As far as I know, one or two of the faculty do write creatively–but I certainly do admire them for their strengths, too. I’ve always found it so weird that many profs in English departments don’t write. Maybe something scholarly because they have to, but that’s it. Or sometimes that Great American Novel which never seems to get past page 50. Mainly because the person can’t really write, and doesn’t really like to do it anyway. So you’re probably pretty unusual just because you do actual nonacademic writing. (Of course this isn’t a universal rule — there are scads of notable exceptions. But they are exceptions.) Anyway, glad THAT went well. Oh, and great recipe — thanks.
