I imagine a deeply-flavored liquid such as coffee might work (if you don't mind a SUPER coffeed-out flavor), as might a whisky or bourbon, but I haven't tried subbing myself and you obviously wouldn't get the same kind of subtle flavors imparted by stout. If you do give it a go though, I'd love to hear how it turns out!

I can’t wait to hear more about your travels. I have always wanted to go to Ireland, but I could definitely not do six weeks from home. I’d need way too many brownies to cure my homesickness.
