<p>With June right around the corner, dissertation-writing has officially kicked into overdrive: I still have my final chapter to go (eeps!), not to mention tons of revisions, an intro, and a conclusion. But what&#8217;s 100+ pages in <del>four</del> three months anyway, right? *cry*</p>

<p>Last year, when the sneak-peek movie clip featuring broccoli-topped pizza from <em>Inside-Out </em>was first released, my Italian friend sent the link to me, laughing as he quoted Anger:</p>
<p>&#8220;Congratulations San Francisco&#8211;<em>you&#8217;ve ruined pizza</em>!&#8221;</p>
<p>As it so happens, I love broccoli on anything&#8211;even pizza&#8211;and I stand my ground when I say that it makes a great, refreshing topping for one of my favorite homemade meals: Asian sesame pasta. <p>If you were standing in my apartment earlier this morning, that would have been the inarticulate sound from the kitchen.</p>
<p>Now before you panic (<em>oh my god, there&#8217;s a MANDOLIN SLICER in her photos!!!), </em>I can assure you that it wasn&#8217;t a scream of pain.</p>
<p>No, my friends&#8211;that was a shriek of pure joy issuing in glass-shattering pitch as I played with my newest kitchen toy. And I am so so <em>so</em> excited to share it with all of you today&#8211;can you tell?</p>

<p>Being back in the pool this year feels SO wonderful. While I&#8217;m not a huge proponent of New Year&#8217;s resolutions in general, I did make it a goal to kick off 2016 by swimming 6 times a week.</p>
<p>Swim club has been great about keeping me right on track: this weekend, a few of us hit up the pool for some workouts and reminded me how fun it is to be back in a swim community again. <p>It feels slightly perverse to be back posting about delicious food and rich baked foods after watching the latest installment of <em>The Hunger Games. </em>We nipped over to a fancy shmancy theater last night to watch it&#8211;I actually dressed up as <a href="http://img1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110807123742/thehungergames/images/b/bf/Peeta_the_boy_with_the_bread.JPG">Peeta the baker</a>, using a HIGHLY suspect grimy white apron I tripped over on the sidewalk on my way to <em>buy </em>a white apron from Target (don&#8217;t worry, I disinfected it in scalding water!)&#8211;and so obviously I come home and have food on the mind. As one would.</p>
